Coming off of his Mind The Gap EP on Waxing Crescent Records, Fragile X (J. Gorecki) strikes yet again with his newest full length, The Man With The Plastic Brain. Drilling percussion, scattered melodies and u-turns at a breakneck pace, John shows us he's very much in peak form.

In his own words:

"I’ve always had an obsession with that weird electronic music from the 90’s that skirted around the fringes of being “dance” music without ever truly falling into that genre. The strange sounds, obscure samples, sense altering melodies and varying stuttered tempos. Cerebral music, that’s more for home listening than it is for the dancefloor. That kind of melting pot and skewered take on dance music has always appealed to me. It fits the more chaotic side of my nature. I’ve always wanted to make an album that would be my own tribute to that era but with my own stamp on it.

I’ve also always had an obsession with the brain and how it works. Specifically my own one. Brain plasticity, in particular, has continually fascinated me. The ability of neural networks to adapt and grow and in a sense, be rewired. Being diagnosed with ADHD in my twenties led me down an even bigger rabbit hole into researching the brain and the possibilities of neuron and cortical remapping. Again, I’ve always liked the idea of working this into some kind of release.

These two factors played a big part in the new release. I get to construct my own tribute to the era that I love, whilst also giving a nod to the most complex organ in the human body. Win win!

I’ve been making a lot of ambient and maybe more “serious” music for the last few years. Which has been fulfilling and definitely an indicator of where I was musically but I feel like I need to cleanse my palette of the last two years or so and go back to what made me want to start making music in the first place. The beats and the weird stuff.

That’s what “The Man With The Plastic Brain” is."
